Closeup of Spray of Gold or Galphimia Gracilis. The Spray of Gold blooms all year round making it an excellent plant for trellises as it provides not only lively color but a good shade. Galphimia Gracilis is a species in the genus Galphimia of the family Malpighiaceae, is native to eastern Mexico. It is widely cultivated in warm regions throughout the world, often under the common names Spray of Gold or Shower of Gold or sometimes Golden Thryallis. Mexican/Central American evergreen tropical shrub that reaches 6-8 feet tall. It produces very showy yellow flowers and aside from it being easy to grow, it blooms almost continually practically all year-round. In the tropics, it makes an excellent hedge or climbing plant for trellises. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds. This garden variety flower brings cheer to my table. The cut flowers can last for 2 days. I used them to decorate my table setting.
